Be The Change: Fair Housing and You - In-Person - 2 Hours CE Credit

Description

In addition to the 2 Hours CE Credit you will receive, this class will also satisfy National Association of REALTORS' (NAR) new Fair Housing training requirement.  (Beginning January 1, 2025, all active NAR members must complete two hours of Fair Housing Training every three years. This requirement coincides with NAR's existing Code of Ethics requirement).

The purpose of this class is to provide real estate professionals working in today's diverse real estate environment with the knowledge and information they need to understand the importance of fair housing laws and ensure they are responsibly practicing real estate in a nondiscriminatory fashion. Course Objectives: *Define and understand the topic of Fair Housing *Describe the history of Fair Housing Laws and why they are important *Understand Florida State and County level Fair Housing Protections *Explain the Seven Protected Classes and the characteristics of each *Recognize activities prohibited under Fair Housing Laws and what actions are illegal *Understand how Fair Housing Laws affect Advertising & Marketing and describe best practices *Explain Steering and Redlining and recognize the danger in making assumptions based on stereotypes *Define and recognize explicit and implicit bias *Explain the effects of bias in Fair Housing and how to prevent it *Identify exemptions to Fair Housing Laws and adherence to Reasonable Accommodations *Know what resources are available to provide Fair Housing Information to clients Instructor: Deb Diesing
